Small Batch, Big Flavor

An artisan microbakery specializing in the time honor traditions of slowly fermented breads using all natural and locally sourced ingredients.

Welcome to Doughblaster Breads! Located in Chelmsford, MA, our micro bakery specializes in handcrafting a variety of breads and baked goods using local and organic flours. Our products are freshly baked and preservative-free, making them perfect for local orders only.

While the bakery has an extensive portfolio of baked goods, it offers a curated selection of 3-4 products each week.  This rotating menu keeps things exciting, allowing you to enjoy a variety of treats with each visit.  Whether you’re a bread enthusiast or have a sweet tooth, Doughblaster Breads has something special for everyone.

In the last twenty years, the word “Artisan” has become so commonly used in the bread world. You’ll see the word imprinted on plastic bags in supermarkets right beside a lengthy list of ingredients that you can neither recognize nor pronounce. You’ll hear it in advertisements for fast-food chains, see it in the frozen food section, and almost any other place professional marketing firms can place it.  The truth is that none of these products are “Artisan.” TRUE ARTISAN BREAD has many of the following attributes:

  1. It is created by hand; each loaf is unique with its own characteristics.
  2.  It uses high quality, locally sourced ingredients, that are usually organic.
  3. It is created using sound technique and Old-World traditions through long fermentation, a method which coaxes all the flavor from the grain.
  4. It is created in small batches and typically uses only four ingredients, (Flour, Salt, Yeast, Water) and while other combinations of ingredients can be added, they should be natural and free from chemicals of any kind. These are the principles my products are based on and I’m proud to call them truly “Artisan”.

When you purchase a loaf of bread from Doughblaster Breads, you can feel good about your choice. Especially if it’s important to you that you are consuming quality ingredients without chemical enhancements of any kind. During harvest season, local vegetables, fruits, and berries, are handpicked (by me) at organic farms right here in New England.  They are either dehydrated, roasted, or shredded and baked right into my breads. However, the ingredient that I am most picky about is my flour.  It is important to me to support the organic grain farmers in our area and in doing so, you can be assured that the bread you have purchased has been made with locally grown and milled grains and is nutrient dense because of these extra steps.
